FAQs

  • While the number of LGBTQ+ students varies from year to year, the class of 2026 boasts roughly 11% LGBTQ+ individuals, and there are 600+ allied members of O4B. Needless to say, O4B is a major presence on campus. In fact, we host the most highly attended campus event of the year, White Party!

  • Beyond Wharton, Philly is an extremely queer-friendly city. Rittenhouse Square, where many MBA students chose to live, is just a 15-minute walk away from the Gayborhood – home to a vibrant queer nightlife and speckled with rainbow street signs and crosswalks. The areas where MBAs live, study, and socialize are safe and offer rich diversity in its people and neighborhood features. There are several other graduate / residency programs in medicine, law, non-profits, and academia at major institutions in the area, all adding to the diversity of postgraduates living nearby! The 6th largest city in the US, Philly is also home to great restaurants, concerts, sports, and other entertainment.

  • Once you are a Wharton student, join O4B at any time using this Campus Groups link. Once you are a member, be sure to fill in the community intake survey.

Visit us at the club fair to speak with current O4B board members and learn more about what it means to be a member. Additionally, we will be hosting a O4B 101 session early in the semester, so be sure to join our listserv and follow us on Instagram to stay up to date.

  • Yes! The Wharton community is very inclusive of all partners. Partners can be members of several student organizations and become as involved in social life as they like. When partners who live out of town come visit, often for larger campus events, the O4B community is super excited to welcome them!

  • Designating yourself as LGBTQ+ on your application will not positively or negatively affect your chance for admission. This information is not shared with anyone outside of Admissions. It's considered to be extremely confidential information, so you have no fear of being "outed" due to your application.

  • We recognize that people are at different stages of coming out, and participating in our group does not mean you have to be out. The presence of active allies and students in different stages of coming out all help to make the group a comfortable place for everyone. Since O4B has a broad 600+ person membership, with hundreds of straight event attendees and allies, your official group membership is not itself an expression of your sexual and gender identity.

There are different levels of “outness” in O4B:

    1. Ally: Not LGBTQ+ identifying

    2. Only out to the co-presidents: Will remain on the private and anonymous Internal Community listserv and O4B listserv

    3. Only out to the Internal Community: The Internal Community consists of LGBTQ+ identifying members

    4. Only out to the Wharton Community: Open within Wharton, but not publicly beyond

    5. Out to all levels: Out to everyone

  • Allies are welcomed with open arms! Please see this page for more information on how to get involved.
